A Gift for Adam by Adriana Kraft

"Side-splitting hilarity mixed with volcanically hot love scenes, what more could a woman want?"

A Gift for Adam by Adriana KraftEvie Strand is the “garden lady” at the department store.  She is plain, quiet and fades into the background . . . and she likes it that way.  Just her luck to draw Adam Grant’s name for the company Christmas party and end up giving him the sexy hand embroidered panties that she had made for her best friend.  Mortified does not begin to describe it and . . . horror of horrors . . . Adam could think she is trying to get his attention; which she most definitely is NOT trying to do.

Adam Grant is the store Lothario. “Love them and leave them satisfied with what he is willing to give” is his motto.  Mousy Evie Strand does not even show up on his radar let alone register a ping.  Finally realizing that the sexy panties with the outrageously suggestive sayings must be a mistake and that he is being an ass by sharing with the rest of the store; Adam stows them for later and determines to apologize for embarrassing Evie.  A nice apology dinner and he can feel better about himself and move on to the next beauty in his string of conquests; at least that is the plan.

A Gift for Adam by Adriana Kraft is hilarious and a refreshingly new take on the old “opposites attract” formula.  I have to admit that laughing until my eyes water and then immediately squirming in my seat from the “heat” of the next scene is a new experience for me.  Opposite extremes of excitement induction make for a powerfully good read.  Ms. Kraft shows that a simple plot need not be boring when you add plenty of interest through truly brilliant comedic rhythm and delivery.  Season that with love scenes better handled with asbestos lined gloves and you get one HOT little story worthy of becoming  a bedtime favorite.  I know that there were characters other than Adam and Evie; but Ms. Kraft does such a fine job of keeping everything focused on the main characters that I could not give you specifics other than to say that they did their job of deepening my affection for Adam and Evie.  Adam is one of those slick play-boy types we avid readers adore seeing “caught” by the right woman.  Evie is so accessible as the “any given girl-friend” type who I love to see get the hottie.  I fear to gush too much about this delightful offering as I may give away the good surprises Ms. Kraft has in store for her readers.  I can sum this experience up with this:   Well done, Ms. Kraft; give me more, please!
