Review: Aurora 1: Star Prince by Ashlynn Monroe

"Ms. Monroe takes a woman who is perfectly happy with her life and thrusts her into a world of intrigue and deadly enemies."

Tasmin Robins works as a diplomatic intern on Aurora.  Tasmin has her life planned for the next ten years.  Falling in love does not appear on that plan.  Neither does risking her life to save a man from laser fire.  The man turns out to be DeMarcus Le’JeMur, Prince of the Stars and Ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.  He rules Aurora.  The simple act of saving his life will destroy Tasmin’s plans for the future.  The Prince declares that he owes Tasmin a life debt which might require her to marry him.  Tasmin is attracted to him, but marriage is another story.  Can she convince the Imperial Council to allow her to retain her freedom?

DeMarcus Le’JeMur enjoys traveling around Aurora in disguise to get to know the common people.  This time, however, his enemies learn of his plans and plan to eliminate him.  An Earth woman saves his life when snipers try to kill him with laser guns and he impulsively states that he owes her a life debt.  Tasmin, however, is not interested in marrying DeMarcus.  She enjoys her work at the Earth Embassy.  The Imperial Council orders DeMarcus and Tasmin to submit to the ancient trial of flesh to find out if they are compatible.  Locked together in a room, Tasmin and DeMarcus cannot keep their hands off each other and pass the trial.  Will Tasmin give up her future plans to become a Princess?

In the first book of the Aurora series, Ashlynn Monroe introduces a world very different from Earth.  The ancient rituals of Aurora dictate the future of Tasmin and DeMarcus.  Tasmin loves her life just the way it is and marriage (even to a Prince) is not on her agenda.  DeMarcus cannot deny that he feels attracted to Tasmin and wants to enjoy her body, but he has no plans to marry quite yet.  Now the choice is out of their hands and in the hands of the Imperial Council.  Ms. Monroe takes a woman who is perfectly happy with her life and thrusts her into a world of intrigue and deadly enemies.  Will the Council give Tasmin and DeMarcus freedom from his life debt or will they be forced to marry?
