Review: Loving the Enemy by Charlie Richards

"Charlie Richards has Nick finding out what it is like to be Loving the Enemy."

Miach Coleman worked hard to turn his life around.  Raised in the foster care system, at eighteen, Miach joined the military.  He left the military to help combat the threat from shifters.  He allowed scientists to make him stronger, faster and able to heal better.  All that comes to nothing when he is captured by the shifters.  His treatment makes him wonder if everything the scientists told him was true.  He is certainly being treated better than any of the shifters captured had been.

Nick Greely recognized Miach as his mate but refused to do anything about it.  After all, Miach is the enemy.  He has been brainwashed by the scientists.  How can he ever trust him?  With a little help from his alpha, Nick decides to test Miach to see if a relationship is possible.  Miach is unable to resist Nick and is soon delighted to take what the sexy, desirable Nick offers.  As his feeling for Nick grow, Miach resolves to keep him safe from a fellow shifter who wants to kill him and from a fellow mercenary who wants to rescue Miach.  At the same time., Miach must maintain his own personal integrity.  Is it any wonder Miach is conflicted!

Charlie Richards always adds a little something different to the Stone Ridge books.  With this one, we find that love knows no boundaries.  It does not consider enemy or ally.  Nick is faced with this problem – Loving the Enemy.  He has problems with that as trust is a big issue.  But Miach is having his own second thoughts.  He can observe and he eyes tell him what the scientists told him is wrong.  Beautifully told with emotion and a touch of angst, Charlie Richards brings to life two men who find themselves in love in Loving the Enemy, all while trying to resolve the issues with the scientists.  Each book brings us a little closer.  Don’t miss Loving the Enemy.
