Review: Wolf’s Own Book Two: Weregild by Carole Cummings

"In Wolf’s Own Book Two: Weregild, Carole Cummings takes us deeper into a world where no one is as they seem."

Kamen Malick and Fen Jacin-Rei strike a reluctant bargain where they will work together.  Fen wants to keep his family safe from harm while Malick’s motives are less obvious.  Together they set out to save his family and kill the man who betrayed Fen.  Fen is an Untouchable.  He carries the voices of the Ancestors in his head and is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain his own insanity with the constant battering of those voices.  At the same Malick is struggling with his own issues.  He needs to find a way to help Fen and keep him sane while at the same time he can do Wolf’s bidding and not break the god’s laws.  Both men are putting their very souls on the line.  They need to trust each other if they are to survive.

Carole Cummings keeps us on the edge of our seat in the second book of this series.  Fen and Malick are closer than before but Fen fights Malick every step of the way.  Malick has some hidden motives that will cause some concern but at the same time they fit Malick perfectly.  There is a lot of violence in Weregild with emotional partings on all sides.  Malick and his little band which soon opens to include others become a family of their own, unique and somehow workable.  Violence, abiding love in many forms, action, justice and lots of emotions makes reading Wolf’s Own Book Two: Weregild by Carole Cummings a unique and unforgettable experience.
