Review: The Bond That Consumes Us by Christine d’Abo

"Christine d’Abo pens another excellent tale with The Bond That Consumes Us, giving us this time Tabor’s story."

Tabor has spent many years on Eurus, content to protect his friend, the Ambassador, and other residents living on Eurus, but lately he has been feeling restless and rather empty. The birth of Kamran’s daughter only increases that feeling. Kamran, the Ambassador, senses he needs a change and sends him to investigate a murder on board the pleasure ship Damara. Arriving on board, Tabor is floored when he meets Fallon Reist, who stirs him like no woman should be able to. Tabor is Briel and he lost his mate many years ago. In Briel, this means, if he survived his mate’s death, he is destined to live out his life alone. As his feelings for Fallon increases, the murderer takes it up a step as well. Tabor realizes that Fallon may be a common thread. He knows he must protect her at all costs.

Tabor really needed Fallon but had a hard time expressing and believing that. Fallon had spent many years on the Damara and resisted all advances but Tabor is something else indeed. The mystery of the murders provided a fantastic backdrop for the romance. The end result will have you biting your nails until everything is resolved. Christine d’Abo’s Bond books are fantastic is more ways than one. She weaves in fantastic plots, give us realistic sympathetic characters that are easy to love and we get to visit with old friends from the first tales. The Bond That Consumes Us will leave us all wanting our very own mate like the ones Christine d’Abo creates so beautifully.
