Aliyah, thank you for this opportunity to learn more about you and your works.
1. Please start by giving us some background about yourself.
Thank you for asking me to do this interview. Background, wow…okay. I’m a military wife have a Borzoi and a German Shepherd as well as a cat. I train and show dogs, write, work, and try to get some charity work in during the year as well. I’ve been reading for a very long time and will read almost anything. Love animals and the outdoors. Oh, and I’m very shy.
2. Why did you become a writer? Who influenced you?
I became a writer because I could no longer ignore the voices in my head asking…okay demanding I tell their story. I don’t honestly know if I could pinpoint any one person who influenced me in writing. I have been blessed to meet numerous authors and supporting people during this journey.
3. As a multicultural author, did you have stumbling blocks placed in your way or was there a fresh market for your books?
I believe as an aspiring author there are stumbling blocks no matter what you write. We all get rejections and hopefully can grow from it. I can’t say that because I write MC/IR I’ve experienced more or not.
4. When looking through your website I read this beautiful statement from you, “Remember that true love is colorblind and reaches all who are willing to open their hearts.” Would you like to elaborate?
I was raised in a diverse setting and there wasn’t the feeling that someone wasn’t loved as much because of skin color, race, or even religion. So I learned to look past all of that and see a person. I just feel people should look for their soulmate with their heart and not their eyes. I mean really what does it matter what their skin color is when you are both old and blind anyway. It is the character of someone that we should be concerned with, not the color of one’s skin.
5. Please tell us about your current releases including HARRIER’S HEALER.
Well, I am extremely proud to be a part of a release that came out last month through Phaze, the erotic anthology Coming Together: At Last where all proceeds are donated to Amnesty International. There are two volumes in that anthology.
Harrier’s Healer is the second book in my Megalodon Team series. It is a rerelease from when I was at OMP. It will be out in February through Lulu.
Other than that, the only other current releases would be on the Satin Notes site, where myself along with Taige Crenshaw and McKenna Jeffries combine to do free reads that are updated every Friday.
6. What was your favorite book to write?
I have enjoyed working on all of my books. I can’t pinpoint a favorite. Each one holds special meaning for me in one way or another. I learn something new with each book as well.
7. Do you have any up coming projects that you would like to share?
This is going to be a busy year for me. The rest of the SEAL Team is slotted to be released, so barring anything major, they should all be out by the end of the year. I’m working on some stories to go with the Trescott Cove and Savoy Valley. I am working on Nik’s story, the Russian half brother to Marcus from A Knight’s Vow. As well as a few other things that I can’t quite say yet until a few more details are worked out, so while it will be busy I’m very excited.
8. What is a typical writing day like for you?
Well, my writing is spread out. I tend to jot things down whenever I have a spare moment. Days when there is nothing else planned to do, I’ll write from the moment I get up till I go to bed. Treadmill, eating, even walking the dogs I’ll run over a scene in my head until I get to a pad of paper and can put it down. I normally write in a notebook first, since I get sidetracked on the computer.
9. Is there anything else that you would like your readers to know about you?
Yes. I would like for them to know how much I appreciate them and their support. I know I may not say it as often as I should but each email, each post I get makes my day. Even notes that may not be totally kind to the story are appreciated.
