For the third book in the Stormy Weather series, there is an excellent balance of mortal danger, potent desires and startling dilemmas. With storms brewing and blazing passions rising, Selena Blake creates an intriguingly compelling story set in New Orleans.

After the only woman he had ever loved was killed two hundred years ago, Laurent Deveraux thought he was destined to spend his lengthy werewolf life alone. He has never forgotten the innocently tempting Violet, and much of his time is spent contemplating how he wishes he life had turned out. One night while trying to drink away his regrets in a New Orleans bar, a woman appears and he feels compelled to find her when she suddenly leaves. Laurent is shocked to realize the mysterious woman is Violet when they meet on the street.

Although Violet does not actually remember Laurent or have any memories from the time before she became a vampire, there does seem to be something vaguely familiar about the man whom she was sent to kill. Laurent cannot believe fate has reunited him with the woman he still loves after all this time, only to have her kill him because he is her current target. Since her sire has caused her past remembrances to be hidden, the only life Violet can recall is a violent one and she is determined to complete her assigned task. Laurent is just as single-minded in making her remember their previous time together and hopefully resurrect their passionate relationship.

Selena Blake gives her Stormy Weather series a unique take on the supernatural world, and her interesting characters find themselves facing some uncertain predicaments. Each story has some suspense, but it is the emotional and passionate aspects of the stories which really capture the attention of the reader. Ms. Blake lets her characters experience an abundance of sexual delights in BOUND AND DETERMINED, while their emotions are in constant turmoil. From the opening scene, there are poignant moments intertwined with instances of humor, while an almost overwhelming longing for something thought out of reach simmers inside Laurent and Violet. Watching this couple work out their difficult issues is told with an affecting intensity, as their personal feelings are clearly depicted through their actions and spoken words. Laurent is an extremely likable hero with his charming nature, and Violet comes across as a very spirited woman who is not afraid to speak her mind plus enthusiastically fights for a cause. These two have some lively conversations, even when the situation seems rather dire, making each of them more appealing. Their witty banter had me smiling often during the story, and I looked forward to seeing what they had to say next. There are numerous questions to be answered when the book begins, and each new revelation increased my reading satisfaction. The inclusion of many previous characters greatly added to the story, and it was delightful getting to revisit with all of them. STORMY WEATHER 3: BOUND AND DETERMINED is sensually stirring with fervently heartfelt emotions and desires, where the scenes frequently sizzle from all the fiery heat.
