Dragul Rising 1: Dragul Dawn by Marie TreanorThe Dragul is a race of shape shifters that are as old as the Earth itself. Humans forced them to dwell underground. After centuries of living beneath the ground, a group of rebels decide to try living on the surface. Years of war reduce the human population to small communities. Now is the time for the Dragul race to reclaim the surface. Prejudice divides the remaining human population into two habitats: the Dome, which contains only humans and the City of the Damned, which contains humans and mutants (half-human and half-paranormal begins). Outside their cities, the world cannot sustain human life. Scientists believe there are areas that can support human life. Beth is a mutant from the City of the Damned. For years, she dreams of a beautiful man with golden wings who visits her in the night and makes love to her. The humans send Beth, a scientist, with a human from the Dome. Their mission: check the outside world for radioactive contamination. Beth and her partner decide to split up to cover more ground. Beth finds the land assigned to her is clean of radioactivity. While taking test samples, Beth discovers a Dragul child with a broken leg. As she tries to help the child, a handsome man with golden wings arrives to help her. She cannot believe her eyes. The winged man who stands before her is the same one who haunts her dreams! Aurel is the Keeper of the Laws for the Dragul. He wants to prevent colonization of the Dragul Kingdom by the humans. Humans bring destruction everywhere they go. When he finds Beth rescuing one of the Dragul children, he knows that she is his One. He also knows that her appearance could mean the end of the peaceful life of the Dragul. Can Aurel have Beth and still keep humans from invading the Dragul Kingdom? Marie Treanor begins a new series that proves that love can exist even after the annihilation of most of the humans on planet Earth. Can Aurel permit the race responsible for the devastation of Earth to spread out into the pristine Dragul Kingdom? The explosive love story between Beth and Aurel is hot enough to burn the pages of this book! I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
