Authors, add your free read. Review: Midnight’s Master by Cynthia Eden
As Holly Storm reports on the murder of a man for her Atlanta TV station, she feels the killing is not an ordinary one. With her knowledge of the Others from a previous incident, she knows the brutal murder is linked to the supernatural community and cannot help but secretly wonder if someone is hunting demons. When the most commanding demon in the area shows up at the crime scene, Holly sees Niol Lapen as exceedingly sexy yet knows he is also powerfully dangerous. However, she is one determined reporter and believes the high-ranking demon can help her find the killer of the deceased man whom she actually knew. When Holly shows up at the supernatural bar owned by Niol, he at first wants nothing to do with the inquisitive reporter although he is very attracted to the tempting human. He warns her of how dangerous it could be to pursue her investigation when it concerns Others, but she feels compelled to keep asking questions on her own when he refuses to help her. When a deadly threat materializes, Niol knows he must work with the reporter or she will probably not survive. Even though Holly realizes there cannot be absolute trust between them, she is willing to work with the demon to stop the ruthless killer in her city. As these two unlikely partners seek answers to the many secrets surrounding the investigation, their overwhelming desire for the other quickly builds and only needs a tiny spark to make it uncontrollable. Cynthia Eden is truly original when it comes to creating paranormal romances. Her inventively told stories contain several intricate yet connected plots, where every situation comes across as totally convincing. Regardless of the supernatural aspects being presented, they each seem plausible and have you wanting to believe these mystical incidents actually exist on our planet. Ms. Eden is a master at constructing an original paranormal world, one which will hold the reader mesmerized during the ingenious scenes where the disclosures are sometimes startling. There are definitely some unforeseen surprises divulged throughout MIDNIGHT’S MASTER, and several of them will leave you completely stunned. I love when an author can catch me unawares, as this is a sign of exceptional writing, and Ms. Eden excels at this ability. This gifted writer can also make her characters very likable, even when their kind is usually not thought of as acceptable or even redeemable. The many supernatural beings in this story are repeatedly shown to be just like humans when it comes to emotions and even their natures. Niol and Holly are an especially passionate couple, and though they thought much different in temperament, these two come to realize their lives have more in common than they would have ever assumed. They both have secrets and must deal with these issues if they hope to find happiness together. Watching Niol and Holly learn to accept themselves for whom they are beneath their many hidden layers is touchingly told with intense feelings, while the fiery heat between them will raise your heart rate. Niol is a hero whom I came to love, and Holly’s persistent determination plus the motivations driving her are admirable. Many previous characters from the first two books also make an appearance, and their scenes made this superb story even more notable. The entwining of genuine emotions and dangerous suspense causes MIDNIGHT’S MASTER to play on every emotion of the reader.
