Review: Tempting the Darkness by Sheila Stewart

"Sheila Stewart’s The Dark series just keep getting better and better as Tempting the Darkness clearly shows."

temptingdarkness72lgAfter six months of darkness, everyone’s nerves are on edge. Cooper Hawthorn has to stop Basil from going too far in his questioning of a suspect and realizes that the only good thing that has come of the darkness is the love blooming between so many of his friends. His thoughts turn to his wife. Gabriella has been in a cryogenic sleep for 20 years and Cooper misses her desperately. He has not found a cure for her cancer and does not think he ever will. He resolves to awaken her and turn her as the only cure he can think of. And that is where it all goes wrong. Gabriella did not want to be a vampire and feels betrayed. At the same time, Basil realizes that Cooper has been hiding so much from him and he too feels betrayed. Now Cooper is alone when he thought he would have the excellent company of his loving wife.

With each book, Sheila Stewart makes the situation more and more grim. The only light in the darkness is the love that some of the residents of Jacob’s Cove manage to find. Chaos is unable to stop that. So many unique personalities and stories make The Dark series rich and a surprise each time you read one. Your heart will continue to bleed for the injustices that Cooper and Gabriella and the rest of the residents are enduring. The next addition will be anxiously awaited.
