There really are no words to describe Survival.  It is the kind of book that is mind-bending but utterly captivating.  The story is complex and sensual with dark undertones.  Survival is about lost love, betrayal, and so much more.  Russ is such a tormented anti-hero that he makes the reader route for him.  His life is a series of complications and missteps.  While trying to get back the love of his life, Gray, he ends up selling his own soul and in the process finds the strength to make his own path.

Gray is a man that has his own problems and trials.  While he still loves Russ, it seems like all of the distractions of his life are what he focuses on.  The band that Russ and Gray created is the perfect backdrop for the drama that is Russ and Gray’s life.  With fighting and loving and forced seductions, Survival is all about surviving what life throws at you.  These are men you will want to win and persevere.

D. J. Manly is a must read author and Survival is definitely not to be missed.  While the story has a few slow points it is an overall impressive novel.  The characters make you want to scream and cry and just about every emotional outburst in between.  Demons and bad guys just add a whole new dimension to an already deep and emotional story.  Survival really is quite impressive in the overall reading experience.
