Review: Lover’s Key by Sherri L. King

Brandi Carroll is searching for the boogeyman who comes out at night through the closets in people’s homes. Seven children have gone missing, including Brandi’s nephew.  Brandi has confronted the creature several times but has no idea how to destroy it. After another sleepless night with Brandi watching the closet door, a different entity confronts her this time; it is a man with a mask who she tries to chase down but to no avail.

Julian is an immortal Templar Knight who is searching for a key, he has found five of the keys already that will save the world from danger. With his companions, Ramiel a vampire and Murduk a revenant, a plan is devised to find the sixth key before it is too late.

Brandi is asked to one of the missing children’s homes after their daughter goes missing. The family wants to know if she can see if it is the creature who stole their daughter, she inadvertently finds a striking blonde man instead. Julian is angry when he finds Brandi with her camera summoning the monster.  He brings his sword down on the creature who disappears into the night only to confront Brandi. Julian is baffled by Brandi, he senses that there is more to her than meets the eye.

Julian injects himself into Brandi’s life, despite her prickly attitude towards him. Julian finds himself protective of Brandi, finding they have more in common than he initially thought. Brandi will play an important role in the retrieval of Julian’s quest.

Sherri L. King writes an interesting story that merges the mysticism of the Templar Knights with a modern day paranormal theme. Sparks fly off the page as the two main characters Brandi and Julian connect with witty banter and sizzling attraction. Lover’s Key collides the two eras into one successfully with a complex mystery surrounding the Bogle and the fate of the world I enjoyed this story, Sherri L King writes a terrific visual piece that will please readers.
