Poignant and inspiring Chailali’s Curse by Anna Leigh Keaton focuses on two people who each have their own demons to face, demons that haunt them everyday. I loved reading this book, it moved me with its content, of how hard and how long it takes to forgive yourself for mistakes that you make in the heat of the moment, mistakes that haunt in a multitude of ways. I loved Mike for the understanding way he was able to coax Christy into conquering her fears, of overcoming the terror she confronted daily since her ordeal. And I also loved the way Christy performed, for not giving up on Mike and showing him that while life may throw misfortunes in your way, not giving up and learning to love again went a long way to confronting adversity. This book isn’t just about a hero and heroine being able to find love and redemption after so much disaster has touched their lives, it’s also about a ghost, Chailali, a woman punished for her actions against a man who didn’t return her love and her quest for redemption. Ms Keaton has become one of my favorite authors and this book just highlights one of the reasons why. Every reader of paranormal stories needs to get this fantastic and moving book, if not for its characters then definitely for its story.
