Layton Grayhawk, CEO of a successful medical supply company, has been tempted by Tempest Marshall, chief accountant of the same company, for quite a while. When Tempest makes it plain at the company’s Valentine’s Eve party that she wants him too, they set the bedsheets on fire that night. But once the sun rises, Tempest is overwrought by guilt and doubt. Layton, impatient to get his way, can’t seem to understand why Tempest is changing her tune from the night before.

Quite honestly, I didn’t understand Tempest either, and Layton was about clear as mud sometimes. Don’t get me wrong. Ms. Lee, as usual, wrote a book of complex characters and smoking sex with some intrigue about the Grayhawk family mixed in. But I didn’t connect with the characters and their actions left me scratching me head. As this appears to be the first book in a series about the Grayhawk family, I’m guessing (and hoping) that many of my questions will be answered over time. But while I’m waiting for that to happen, I think I’ll re-read some of my favorite books by Marilyn Lee.
