Scandalous Profession by Elaine Lowe
Richard Wilcox is definitely interested in the young widow. As a widower, he has dedicated himself to his son, Theodore. But Richard wonders if he will ever find a woman whose body he could worship, a woman he could love and who would love him back, unlike his deceased wife. Charlotte is the first woman who makes Richard want it all, but will his feelings change once he discovers her secret? Who knew? Who knew that proper ladies from the Regency era knew how to shake their tail feathers, much less write about it? Scandalous Profession is a delightful break from the typical Regency romance. The hero and heroine are not peers of the realm, although both are respectable. And Charlotte is fantastic as a woman willing to break the rules to take care of her son, but never lost sight of her dreams. As I mentioned before, Richard is delectable. What woman wouldn’t desire a man who simply wants to “worship her body?†Happily, Richard does more than worship Charlotte’s body. I do think the story could have ended a little earlier than it did. The side story was a little distracting; since it was so short, it felt a little rushed. However, if you love this time period, but are looking for a new twist, pick up Scandalous Profession.
