Review: Cascadia Wolves: Wolf Unbound by Lauren Dane

"Mates, mafia and mayhem – it’s in there."

Tegan Warden lost her husband and mate four years ago, and it has taken that long for her to decide that merely surviving isn’t enough. Now she is ready to live again, to love again. But as a werewolf guard on the Cascadia Enforcer team and surrounded by her loving but sometimes misguided siblings, it’s not easy finding someone to warm her bed, and her heart, on a regular basis. When she meets Ben Stoner at Club De Sade – and enjoys being flogged by him – things begins to look up. Even the fact that he is a cop doesn’t deter the burgeoning lust coursing through her body.

However, once they unintentionally mate, Ben is confused and uncertain if he’s ready to be tied to a wolf, even though the wolf is a woman who inspires his desires to new heights. While the two of them try to sort out their feelings and determine where this relationship is heading, the cop and the guard must confront the growing unrest in the werewolf nation.

With Wolf Unbound, Ms. Dane wrote a very touching tale. When Tegan realizes that she is mated with Ben, I felt so sad – here is a woman ready to fall in love again, but now that choice is taken from her and she’s with someone who may not want to be with her. But instead of railing against fate, she tries to make the best of it. Ben is a little less accepting, but no less deserving of sympathy even though his feelings are less than selfless, which is not surprising considering his history. Ben and Tee make a great couple, loving and supportive – inside and outside the bedroom. Fourth in the Cascadia Wolves series, the focus is on Tee and Ben, but the stakes in the National Pack have just been amped up and there is a lot of action. I haven’t read any of the earlier stories, but I do recommend reading the other stories first. I had no problem getting into Tee and Ben’s story, but I was a little lost regarding battle between the various wolf packs. Regardless, I am hooked on this series so I have some back-reading to do.
