When Waryn Landelle, Duke of Lysky, comes home to his duchy in England after being in battle, he only wants to rest and be left alone. Unfortunately, his elderly aunt is carrying out a fun tradition where names are drawn for Valentine’s Day, and hordes of people are in attendance. The final name is pulled as he goes to speak with his relative, and Waryn is informed he must wear Sibil Carlisle’s name on a ribbon around his sleeve for a whole year. Though he was at first annoyed with having to participate in this game for sweethearts, he begins to change his thinking when he sees the lovely Sibil and is immediately attracted to her.

Although Sibil did not plan on taking part in the drawing when she came with her family to the duchy, she was encouraged to do so by Waryn’s aunt. Now that she has been matched with Waryn as his sweetheart, she cannot believe her good luck. Several years ago, she helped him when he was wounded in battle and he remains the one man about whom she constantly fantasizes. Since her family thinks it would be best if she becomes a nun, Sibil hopes Waryn will fulfill her main fantasy before she takes her future vows. She has dreamed of how being with a man in all ways would truly be for her, and even though her new sweetheart does not remember their time together, she hopes she can persuade him to let her finally experience all the aspects of love.

By combining genuine emotions and fiery passions with compelling actions, Marissa Alwin brings her story to life with realism. The commanding hero paired with a spirited heroine are both appealing in every way, as their inner personalities are apparent at every turn. Regardless of whether they are concerned about someone else or turning one of their dreams into reality, the true natures of Waryn and Sibil cause their reactions to be candid and often overflowing with intense feelings. This couple repeatedly expressed such powerful and stirring emotions, ones which I was also able to feel with the potent writing of Ms. Alwin. Their more intimate moments were not only blazing with heat, but also moving from their honest responses to each other. The beginning thoughts of Waryn were priceless and had me smiling from their wittiness. With its medieval setting, which is a favorite of mine, I was completely pulled into the time period and its way of life plus colorful characters. HEART ON HIS SLEEVE will charm readers in this winning romance about discovering true love.
