Authors, add your free read. Review: Bridge Through the Mist by Denise A. Agnew
After Alenna Carstairs leaves Arizona and comes to work on an amateur archaeology dig at MacKendrick Castle in Scotland, she had hoped to leave behind her painful memories of a failed relationship. Regrettably, her mind cannot let go of the past, so she tries to make herself focus entirely on her work. While alone, Alenna unearths a garnet ring, one she feels compelled to try on. Just as she is about to take off the ring, she hears a horse suddenly approaching through the mist. With the large animal and its rider getting much too close, she fears for her life. When Alenna regains her wits, she realizes everything around her is significantly changed and has the authentic look from many centuries prior. Even more unsettling is the man who is looking after her. Tynan of MacBrahin seems just as curious about her as she is of him. When it becomes clear to Alenna that she has been transported back to the year 1318, she tries to make the best of the situation until she can figure out how to return to her own era. As she and Tynan spend time together, her modern ways of thinking frequently conflicts with his beliefs, causing this couple to oftentimes become annoyed with each other. There is also the problem of the overpowering sexual awareness between them, and though their personalities are very dissimilar, they are undeniably drawn to each other. Although Tynan is attracted to Alenna, he is resolved to never let a woman get close to him again, as those whom he did before met untimely fates. However, when this boldly acting woman is wanted by the baron of the castle for himself, Tynan knows he must do whatever is necessary to keep her away from this immoral man. Even if it means involving his own heart. By combining a cast of memorable characters with an innovative storyline, Denise A. Agnew captivates readers with her creative originality. A master of several genres, the talent of Ms. Agnew shines in this innovative time travel story, where the plot and characters are extraordinary. The whole story is visually stimulating, as the scenes come alive as the reader gets a sense of the daily life in the 14th Century. With the main characters plus the secondary ones being so well-portrayed, their true natures are exposed throughout the story, making every moment conveyed mesmerizing. The plot is enthralling on every page, whether it has the characters facing certain death or dealing with easily roused feelings. The story’s length gave plenty of time for the sexual tension between Alenna and Tynan to build towards a fervent level, exploding when all control is finally lost. Their intimate times together are absolutely sizzling, yet there is also a compassionate tenderness underneath all the infatuated desire. Tynan is an exceptional hero, one who has an intimidating physical appearance, yet his actions prove he possesses a hidden heart of gold. One of my fantasies has always starred a Scottish Highlander, and my own mind could not have created a more perfect man to fulfill my desires than Tynan. BRIDGE THROUGH THE MIST is an adventurous love story which will leave a lasting impact from the profound emotions and undaunted determination.
