Authors, add your free read. Review: Male Call by Denise A. Agnew
Although Eve Carmichael thought of coworker Sean O’Callahan as only a friend, she suggested they write to each other when his Army Reserve unit is sent to the Middle East. When they first started corresponding through actual hand-written letters, the notes were just between two friends. However, the subject manner quickly turns more sensual in nature as Sean and Eve begin to express more of their unspoken inner thoughts in their weekly letters. He especially enjoys the mail he receives from her, as it lets him take his mind off all the danger constantly surrounding him. With every new revelation about his colleague, Sean dreams of the time when he returns home. Since Sean and Eve have not talked in person after all their enlightening disclosures, she wonders how they will respond to each other when he gets back. She has always thought of her life as successful, yet when it comes to her social life and relationships, it is basically nonexistent. Opening up to Sean has made Eve see her life in a different way, and she believes it is time to change some aspects of her life. When a friend suggest they attend the Male Call club, where men strip for women, she is at first apprehensive yet changes her mind to go along with her new way of thinking. The only bad part of her birthday celebration is the thoughts in the back of her mind concerning how Sean has written only one letter in several weeks, and it stated he was injured but should be coming home soon. Denise A. Agnew has a gift for crafting convincing scenarios where one is held captive by every anticipated word. The scenes are well thought-out, and the engaging interaction between the unforgettable main characters lets readers see and feel their every emotion. In MALE CALL, the circumstances surrounding Sean and Eve are told with realism, making their story feel as though it is truly happening to two very endearing individuals. From the moments this couple is met, either in person or through sentimental letters, they captured both my thoughts and heart with the earnest words between them. Ms. Agnew takes a novel approach in her story as to how these two first interacted, and it works superbly in how it grabbed my own emotions and made me care deeply about Sean and Eve. The anxiety they felt at times is palpable, and their compassionate caring for one another is depicted with candid honesty. When it comes to the sexual feelings between this couple, all I can say is steamily blazing passions. With the openness between Sean and Eve in their letters, their lusty thoughts come through loud and clear numerous times, and each one had me also experiencing the heat that distance could not extinguish. There are more military romances in the Hot Zone series from this prolific author, and I look forward to every one with anticipation. MALE CALL is an intensely moving story overflowing with heartfelt emotions and scorching sensuality.
