Review: Zarius by L.A. Day

"An alien with siltas - what more can a woman want?"

Zarius El Kyr, from the planet Reja 312, has come to earth to find his lifemate. His search leads him to Star Elliot, who is half earthling and half Rejan. Although a war may be brewing at his planet, Zar can no longer ignore the need to have his own fila, the one woman meant for him, the one woman to bear his children. Once he spies her, Zar knows instinctively that Star is the only one for him and he takes drastic measures to ensure that she becomes his.

Star is innocent in more ways that just sexually. She has no idea about her heritage, which was kept hidden from her by her mother. And Star has no idea that her lover wants more than just to rock her world; Zar wants to take her to another world. What’s a girl to do when she discovers that her whole life has been a lie and the man who has captured her heart has lied to her too?

Zarius is an action-packed novel, and Zar captivated not only Star but me as well. Star had to grow on me (and lose a little of her naïveté), but once she started to stand up for her self, I grew to like her. Zarius is a hunkalicious warrior who refuses to accept failure, but when he learns that he has hurt his mate, he is determined to make things right, even if it goes against the Rejan traditions. Star is an insecure little girl who blossoms into a woman confident in her needs, even if those needs may run contrary to the man she loves. Seeing these two finally get together was wonderful. There are hints of a sequel, and I can hardly wait. One of the things I like in Zarius are the secondary characters. It would be great if they had their own story.
