Review: Forbidden Fruit by Jaide Fox

"This fruit left a sour taste in my mouth."

On her way to be with her betrothed, Lilith Somerset isn’t exactly rushing to enter into the arranged marriage. But she is pushed from the frying pan into the fire when she is kidnapped by Dominic Rainier. Dominic hates having to kidnap Lilith and impregnate her to end the curse that covers his land, but he sees no other choice. What does the future hold for Lilith and Dominic after this most unsettling beginning?

The publisher lists this July 2005 reissue as having “forced seduction” but I must respectfully disagree and call it for what it is – rape. Although no physical force was used, there was no consent (in fact a drug was used on Lilith, but I don’t know why it didn’t affect him) and this influenced me and my view on the story and the characters. So much so that I didn’t care if the curse was lifted, that Dominic felt guilty or even if Lilith forgave Dominic. Don’t be tempted by this Forbidden Fruit.

I totally agree with this review. It wasn’t forced seduction or seduction period. She was drugged and raped over and over again. I also didn’t care if his land dried up, I hoped he got punished for what he did,and he needed to be. He felt no guilt, he was a jerk from beginning to end and the heroine needed serious help. I don’t understand how she could forgive or even love this zero and ass of a hero.
