Interview with C.R. MossGetting to Know You Start by telling us a little about yourself. Who is C.R. Moss? CM: I’m a resident of the hot and sunny southwest US. I knew I wanted to write at an early age, but having taken a round about way to settle down as a fiction writer, the extent of my publishing credits, before publication with eXtasy Books, were in the corporate realm: newspaper articles, press releases, corporate newsletters, etc. Now that I’ve found my niche in the health-care industry, I’ve returned my focus to fiction. When I’m not working at my day job or at my computer cooking up another tale, I can be found hanging out with my husband and two cats or reading a book. CM: I am published with eXtasy Books (www.extasybooks.com), and I consider myself a multi-genre writer: sci-fi, paranormal, horror, romance (erotic & sensual), time travel. –Musicians often list others who’ve influenced them. What authors have influenced and inspired you? CM: Stephen King, Clive Barker, Anne Rice, Jude Deveraux –Do you have a favorite book or series? CM: For a book: Remembrance by Jude Deveraux. For a series, it’s a toss up between Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and her Beauty trilogy –When you’re not writing, do you have any hobbies or interests? CM: Aside from reading and writing, I’m into astronomy and astrology; crystals, energy work and alternative medicine. I also love watching shows on the Discovery, History and Science channels. About Your Books –Tell us more about your latest release, Deliverance. What’s it about and what inspired you to write it? CM: Deliverance is the first book in my Si’Ludo Sisters trilogy which is about triplet sisters who awaken to the fact they aren’t human. They are mystical beings from a far away star system who are sought after by enemies due to the knowledge and powers they have. In the first book we follow the middle sister, Hope Collins, who is in love with Rhys Mochrie. Rhys has involved himself with the Collins’ family to protect Hope, because she has powers beneficial to his and his enemy’s peoples. Plans go awry and Hope is kidnapped by Rhys’s foe, Corbet Jenkins. The Si’Ludo Sisters trilogy is actually a spinoff of a longer, mainstream series I’m working on, which will consist of several books (starting with Postponing Eternity – Book 1 of the Si’Ludo Prophesy), and the inspiration for the mainstream series came from a dream I had. These stories contain a combination of sci-fi, paranormal, time travel and romance elements. –What’s coming out next from you? Our readers will want to mark their calendars! CM: Salvation, the second book in the trilogy, along with Deliverance, are both available from eXtasy books and the third installment, Atonement, will be available September 1, 2008 from eXtasy books. I also have holiday stories coming out: Dirty Little Secret on October 31 and Holiday Spirits on December 1 both through eXtasy Books as well. –Do you come up with your characters first or the plot of the story? CM: Usually it’s just the characters and they pop up with a bit of the story line. Sometimes, though, they’re nice enough to reveal the whole plot in the beginning and I love when they do that. CM: The characters find me and tell me who they are. If for some reason a character comes to me without a name, I figure out what kind of role/meaning they have in the story then I find a name in a baby book that pertains to that role/meaning. I have had cases where a character doesn’t like the name so I have to change it later on. –Do you have a favorite book or one that’s closest to your heart that you’ve written? CM: The mainstream series I’m working on is near and dear to me but as for individual stories at this time my favorite is The Redeemer which is Cor’s story. This story will be released in print format with my trilogy. The print version of the four books will be called Mystics. (Release date TBD) Random Questions –If you were stuck on an island, what 3 things would you take with you? CM: My library, my husband, and a fishing pole. –Give us 5 words that describe you. CM: Learn the craft: grammar, plot, character development, etc. Join writers’ groups. And despite any rejections and/or bad reviews keep writing and keep learning. –How can readers get in contact with you? or they can check out my website at: home.earthlink.net/~cr_moss/ and/or email me at: cr_moss@earthlink.net
