Aliens kidnap Starling from Earth.  She wakes in a cell with other abducted prisoners.  Starling soon finds herself on the auction block.  After her purchase, Starling becomes the pet of King Bekion.  Earthlings are considered to be animals but Starling lets Bekion know that she has a brain and will not be easily controlled.  Starling finds Bekion attractive, but will not give in to her desires.  Starling settles into the life of a pampered pet.  She finds it hard to fight her growing need for Bekion.  A relationship between them is impossible.  Bekion considers sex with a pet is a form of bestiality.  Will Starling give in to her lust in spite of the taboo against owner and pet having sex?

Bekion is a shining example of what a King should be.  His people are happy and the planet is thriving.  Bekion finds out that his mother bought an Earth girl as a pet for his younger brother.  Bekion fears that this new pet will end up dead like all the other pets his brother had in the past, so he takes possession of the girl.  He enjoys Starling’s strong personality.  She is not like the other pets on his planet.  He finds himself drawn to Starling, but he knows that he cannot give in to his lust.  He is the King and he must set a good example for his people.  Will Bekion’s determination to keep far away from Starling’s body weaken?

Zenobia Renquist takes a strong willed woman and puts her in a situation guaranteed to test her courage.  Humans are no better than animals and Starling wants to change everyone’s opinion about Earthlings.  King Bekion takes Starling away from his brother for all the right reasons, but something about her sets his blood on fire.  Ms. Renquist tells a tale full of palace intrigue and mischief that could bring down Bekion’s government.  No matter how many times Bekion and Starling try to express their feelings for each other, someone always interrupts.  This story has some interesting plot twists that will keep the reader guessing until the end of the book.  Will Bekion pay the price for the love he feels for Starling?
