Review: Ancient Ties by Jane Leopold Quinn

"She tripped through time, and found love everlasting…"

Almost emotionally destroyed by constant warfare, Marek Benin Verus desperately needs love and affection. Suffering a debilitating breakdown after killing a young man the age of his son, he has taken leave of absence from his post as a war veteran and leader. While he is recovering, the Goddess of love, Venus, has sent him a woman to heal his wounded heart and soul. Marek takes full advantage of his very lovely offering; never imagining that his heart would be come captivated by a woman who claims to be from thousands of years in the future and that she would give him the healing he so desperately needs

Still reeling from a mentally and heart breaking, destructive relationship with her ex-husband; Janney Forrester decides to take a trip to restore her self confidence and take a much needed break. Touring modern day Europe seemed to be just the thing she needed, after all she has always been fascinated by Bath. While touring she spies a bracelet and is suddenly transported almost two-thousand years into the past! Janney sees Marek and is instantly in lust and the longer she stays around and gets to know him the more she feels. However, can Janney trust her self, her feelings and most of all her judgment? Does she have what it takes to believe again in love? Janney must decide if she wants to risk her heart one more time especially when the love of her life can be taken away…

Having the Gods take an active role in the story was wonderful, but not over whelming. The secondary characters were supportive and there for the main characters but not to the point where they started to take over the tale. At times very funny and thoughtful; this story is for anyone who wants her own Roman.

Ancient Ties has taken me to places I really wanted to go. With a male lead that is physically stunning, mentally powerful, and emotionally gripping; the hero will take you on an emotional ride, and the heroine will make you wish you could take her place. This story is about two lonely hearts who find the power to live and love. The history was wonderfully rich with detail and very informative. It was nice to have an author pay particular attention to historical facts, though at times I thought it was a little too much information and distracted from the story, it was woven into the story line so well that it really didn’t matter. The passion between these two people was instantaneous and explosive; it took them a while to get down to the lovemaking but when they did boy did it shatter the screen! The sexuality of the book was wonderful and shockingly so, not because of what was done, but because the passion was so very raw. Very rarely do I come across a book that I plan to read again and again… This was just one such book. I’ve already recommended it to all my friends and family and will continue to do so. I really must congratulate Ms. Quinn on a very powerful tale.
