Missouri Hess, called Miz by the locals, can heal with a touch and knows when someone is not telling the truth.  Instead of making her a valued member of the community, her gifts make Miz an outcast that no one trusts.  Miz lives in a cabin in the woods, unaware of the supernatural creatures that surround her.  On a trip to pick up some groceries, Miz finds a huge wild cat caught in a trap.  After she frees the animal and removes poisons from it’s bloodstream, the animal bites her neck.  Miz is not surprised.  No one appreciates her healing, so why should a wild animal treat her any differently?  A new man in town catches her eye and her body ignites, but something about him convinces Miz that he is hiding something.  Miz cannot trust him but that does not stop her body from lusting after his.  Will Miz give in to her physical needs?

Thomas Hunter, a member of Special Forces and a golden jaguar shifter, is in Bitter Creek Holler on a mission.  The government sends Thomas to investigate the local werewolf population.  In his jaguar form, Thomas watches local bullies try to harm Miz.  Miz physically defends herself and leaves an injured man behind.  When Thomas finds himself in a deadly trap, he becomes aware that someone in the town knows what he is.  Thomas is close to death when Miz rides by on her motorcycle.  She releases the jaguar from the trap that is slowly killing it and heals it.  Thomas and his jaguar recognize Miz as their mate.  Once Miz heals the jaguar, it bites Miz and claims her.  Thomas knows that it will not be easy to convince Miz that she belongs with him.  He has a mission to complete before he can even think about the future.  How is Miz involved with the local werewolves?

Gem Sivad introduces the reader to a strong woman who learns to survive in a hostile environment.  The man she loved turned away from her when he learned of her abilities to heal and force someone to tell the truth.  When Miz meets Thomas, they cannot keep their hands off each other.  Miz is a realist and learns from her mistakes.  They may have great sex, but if Miz cannot trust Thomas there is no future for them.  Ms. Sivad beautifully explores the growing love between Miz and Thomas while giving the reader enough action and suspense to keep the pages turning.  Will Thomas’s job keep them apart?
